The Jimmy Fund Community

I've started a new community to those who are all interested in the fight against childhood cancer and the Jimmy Fund. I'm just trying to spread the word. I plan on doing at least five during the 2005 year and season. Any help would greatly be appreciated. I have always wanted to do something like this and now I think now is a perfect time. There's still a lot of work to be done in cancer research. Kids are still dying from leukemia and other horiffic forms of cancer. The community is also a place to talk about some of  the on-going political talk about stem-cell research something Mr. President is against because he's "pro-life."

And before the WEEI RadioThon this past year me and a few of my friends got together and put a list together of at least four people we all knew struck by cancer and donated five dollars in each of their names. We raised just over $400 dollars and donated it the Jimmy Fund during the RadioThon. This is something that I would consider doing in  the community for next year (if I'm in Boston during the RadioThon or I'll hand it off to one of my friends if I'm back at school). Other suggestions are welcome.

Also I thought about making a community for The Jimmy Fund when I was listening to Tim McGraw's song "Live Like You Were Dying" a song for his father Tug McGraw (Phillies Pitcher) who died of brain cancer last year. The song made me think of my cousin's husband who died this past June of leukemia and left behind his wife and a son.
